Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC has signed another contract to supply about 100 mcm of LNG with Polish Orlen, the press service of Naftogaz reports.
Details of the contract
Natural gas will come from a batch of American LNG. After regasification, the gas will be transported to the Polish-Ukrainian border.
This is the second LNG supply contract signed under the Memorandum of Understanding between the companies. The first contract also provided for the supply of 100 mcm of LNG.
Cooperation between Naftogaz and Orlen
“Ensuring stable gas supplies remains our top priority. Cooperation with Orlen allows Ukraine to expand its LNG import capabilities and increase energy security. We continue to work on diversifying our supply sources to ensure the country's reliability and availability of gas. This is especially important in the context of constant Russian attacks on our gas infrastructure,” said Roman Chumak, CEO of Naftogaz Group.
The gas will be delivered to Ukraine in April. It will be used to create a strategic reserve for the next heating season.
“Another gas supply contract for Naftogaz emphasizes the competitiveness of Orlen's offer. We continue to develop our trade expertise and leverage our experience in the US market. This allows us to provide our partners with attractive commercial terms. At the same time, we are proud to contribute to the diversification of Ukraine's energy supply, strengthening the energy security of our neighbor,” said Ireneusz Fonfara, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Orlen.
