Despite the challenging situation in the country, international businesses continue to play a crucial role in supporting Ukraine. With the onset of the full-scale invasion, international businesses faced challenges requiring adaptation to new economic realities and active social responsibility. Businesses have become an integral part of Ukraine’s support system.
Let’s examine how businesses can help the country, using the Austrian fuel station network AMIC Energy in Ukraine as an example.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, AMIC Energy has continued operations, ensuring fuel supply for the population and critical infrastructure. The company has also allocated significant resources for humanitarian aid, support for defense forces, and economic recovery.
Taxes as a Contribution to Stability
One of the most important aspects of foreign businesses operating in Ukraine is honest tax payments, which directly impact the country’s economic stability. In 2023, AMIC ENERGY paid over 1.2 billion UAH in taxes and fees. In 2024, this amount increased to 2.5 billion UAH, making a substantial contribution to the state budget of a country defending itself in an unjust war.
AMIC Energy’s Contribution to Economic Recovery
Tax revenues from international businesses contribute to Ukraine’s economic recovery, helping maintain economic stability even in wartime conditions.
Supporting the Military
Corporate social responsibility is a key element of AMIC Energy in Ukraine. The company continuously assesses urgent needs and monitors social challenges in close cooperation with charitable foundations and government institutions, ensuring a rapid response to incoming requests.
Large-Scale Aid Programs
From the first days of the full-scale invasion, AMIC Energy in Ukraine launched large-scale aid programs, providing over 126 million UAH in support for the Ukrainian military, charitable organizations, state institutions, and civic initiatives.

Collaboration with the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation
A striking example of AMIC Energy in Ukraine involvement is its partnership with the Serhiy Prytula Foundation. Through the ongoing "Invincible Coffee" campaign, the company has raised over 19 million UAH, used to purchase and deliver:
— 7 command and staff vehicles for the military.
— Over 180 units of equipment for shelters and medical facilities in frontline regions.
Mavic from AMIC Initiative
Under another charitable initiative, Mavic from AMIC, the Austrian company allocated over 24 million UAH to purchase 250 DJI Mavic 3 drones, which were delivered to Ukrainian defenders.

Rapid Response to Requests
AMIC Energy has also responded swiftly to requests for assistance, such as equipping the training camp of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The aid package, totaling 1.04 million UAH, included:
- Safes for weapon storage
- Weapon cleaning supplies
- Vehicle tires
- Fire extinguishers
- Additional equipment and fuel
Austrian Film Weeks
Beyond military aid, AMIC Energy also supports cultural initiatives. In partnership with the Austrian Embassy in Ukraine, the company sponsors the Austrian Film Weeks, where proceeds from ticket sales are matched and doubled by AMIC Energy to support Ukraine in its fight against the aggressor.
Other Forms of Support
Beyond direct donation campaigns, AMIC Energy accumulates funds through initiatives such as:
- Corporate contributions instead of traditional business gifts
- Direct financial donations
All AMIC Energy charity projects in Ukraine undergo rigorous evaluation and are approved by the company’s shareholders, ensuring efficient resource allocation and long-term support strategies.

Implementing European Standards
Despite the war’s challenges, AMIC Energy continues to introduce modern European standards at its fuel stations.
In 2024, 12 fuel stations in Ukraine were upgraded following a modern comfort and safety concept.
The new Loft-style design, improved rest areas, and expanded store assortments ensure high-quality service, even in wartime conditions.

Expansion in Poland
In October 2024, Amic Polska acquired nine fuel stations from Lux-Motor Oil in Poland, expanding its network. A new fuel station format, "Amic Box," was introduced in Gabrielin, Poland. Amic Polska expanded the number of Sbarro pizzerias from 5 to 8 at its stations. The 69th Subway restaurant on an AMIC fuel station was opened in Leszno, Poland.
AMIC Energy shareholder Andreas Zernetz shared the company’s growth plans and strategy in an interview with NaftoRynok.
Fuel Quality Control
Another critical aspect of AMIC Energy’s operations is fuel quality control. The company only imports fuel from verified European suppliers such as Orlen Lietuva, OMV Petrom, and Unimot. In 2024, AMIC Energy became one of Ukraine’s top four largest importers of A-95 gasoline, increasing its supply by 72.5% to 33,400 tons.
