Naftogaz of Ukraine has joined the Public Union Support for the Activities of the Ukrainian Network of Integrity and Compliance (UNIC). The company's press service reports that this confirms the high level of anti-corruption policy, ethics, and compliance at Naftogaz.
What is UNIC
UNIC unites 48 Ukrainian and international companies that adhere to the principles of transparency, responsibility, and integrity in doing business. The community was established in 2017 with the support of the Business Ombudsman Council, OECD, and EBRD. Its goal is to popularize business integrity to improve the business environment in Ukraine.
Naftogaz implements UNIC principles
"Naftogaz systematically implements the principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability. Membership in the UNIC is not only a recognition of our work, but also a new opportunity for sharing experience and working together with other responsible companies. We are convinced that only transparent and honest businesses can ensure sustainable development and public trust," said Roman Chumak, CEO of Naftogaz Group.
On its way to becoming a member of UNIC, Naftogaz successfully passed the COSA compliance diagnostics, conducted a series of training for employees, improved the conflict of interest management process, improved the mechanism for protecting employees who reported information about corruption offenses (whistleblowers), and restored the Trust Line.
Membership in UNIC provides Naftogaz with opportunities to participate in the transformation processes during the country's recovery, facilitated access to international markets, exchange of best practices in compliance, easier access to credit and investment, and access to the professional community and collective anti-corruption efforts.
