The SOCAR group of companies reduced fuel imports by 26.9% to 32.3 thousand tons by the end of 2024, according to a study by NaftoRynok Daily fuels&LPG. Despite the overall decline, the company increased its imports of gasoline, particularly high-octane gasoline.
SOCAR doubled sales of A-100 gasoline
NaftoRynok found that SOCAR has held the second position among suppliers of premium high-octane gasoline grades A-98/100 for two consecutive years, with a 10.5% share.
The company doubled its imports of A-100 gasoline to 3.8 thousand tons in 2024 for its own gas station network, compared to 2023 volumes. Given that this product is not available on the wholesale market, all imports of high-octane gasoline by SOCAR are sold at its gas stations.
The improved NANO100 gasoline produced by Warter Fuels (Poland) is available at one-third of SOCAR stations—20 gas stations (including 10 in Kyiv and the region) as of today.
Additionally, by the end of 2024, SOCAR rose to the seventh position in the ranking of the largest importers of A-95 gasoline, compared to eighth in 2023. This advancement was due to a 16% increase in imports in 2024. The company imports gasoline from EU countries. The largest volumes were purchased from Romania—65.6%. The remaining portion comes from Poland, Slovakia, and Lithuania.
Overall, SOCAR gas stations sell gasoline produced in at least four EU countries.
What diesel fuel does SOCAR import?
Diesel fuel at SOCAR gas stations is supplied by the operator from refineries of the PKN Orlen group in Poland and Lithuania, as well as from the Greek Hellenic Petroleum and the Turkish STAR Refinery, which belongs to the parent company. Additionally, the company purchases diesel fuel on the domestic market produced by the Hungarian MOL.
The company stated that the quality of the fuel is checked before delivery to the gas stations.
«All fuel meets the requirements of Ukrainian DSTU standards, and we are responsible for every liter sold at SOCAR gas stations», said Igor Orlov, Director of the SOCAR Ukraine network.
