Ukrnafta PJSC (50% + 1 share belongs to Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC) and Ukrgazvydobuvannya JSC (part of the Naftogaz Group) have begun studying the possibilities of joint production of oil and gas in several license areas. The working meeting of the head of Ukrnafta Sergiy Koretskyi and the head of Ukrgazvydobuvanny Oleg Tolmachev was devoted to this issue.

Currently, the companies are conducting consultations on the license areas where this project can be deployed and are also analyzing the necessary technical and regulatory issues for the transition to practical work.

"The synergy of cooperation between the two state-owned production companies will make it possible to bring a number of wells out of operation and resume hydrocarbon production on them," Sergiy Koretskyi said. - The purpose of the meeting is to define a clear action plan for joint work, joint development, and joint use of capacities."

In addition to the mentioned project, UGV and Ukrnafta are also considering cooperation in other areas. Regarding the joint use of ground infrastructure and the exchange of geological data on adjacent license areas. The companies also started discussions on potential joint exploration and development of oil and gas fields.

"Our companies have a huge potential for cooperation, which we are finally starting to realize. We hope that such work will soon materialize in the form of additional cubic meters of gas and tons of oil, becoming another component for achieving our goal of completely abandoning the import of energy carriers," said Oleg Tolmachev.

As a reminder, Ukrnafta plans to start resuming oil production at wells that are not working now and where possible. There are 1,200 wells that are located on the licensed sites of other companies but belong to Ukrnafta, and another 4,300 that have been liquidated and are inactive.

According to the consolidated assessment of the company's specialized specialists, approximately 10% of them can be restored, based on modern technological possibilities of restoration and capital repairs, which will give an increase of at least 500 wells over the next few years.
