Ukrgazvydobuvannya JSC (UGV), which is part of the Naftogaz Group, launched a well at one of the "depleted" deposits in the Carpathian region. The chairman of the board of Naftogaz Oleksiy Chernyshov announced this.

According to Chernyshov, the field broke the 20-year record of natural gas production in the region and produced more than 200 tcm of natural gas per day.

"No happy accidents. The well is the result of coordinated work, the use of 3D seismic surveys, and modern drilling technologies," Chernyshov commented.

A team of Ukrburgaz specialists drilled a new well with a depth of 1,600 m to further explore the depleted deposit. Record gas production rates were achieved thanks to the use of modern technologies, in particular, the Ivan Bohun drilling rig.

"The result of this well and the work in general on the company's old fields demonstrates the effectiveness of using modern technologies and new approaches to data interpretation. The western region has great potential for discovering new hydrocarbon deposits, which is confirmed by the results of neighboring countries. Now we are intensifying our activities in this region, in particular with regard to the introduction of new technologies and attraction of investments," comments the acting director of UGV Oleg Tolmachev.
