Ukrgazvydobuvannya JSC (UGV), which is part of the Naftogaz Group, has drilled a new appraisal and development well with a depth of 5,950 m which produces 340 tcm of natural gas per day. This was reported by the Naftogaz press service.
"This is a very positive result, especially considering that the field where the well was drilled has been in operation for 45 years and is 85% depleted. This was possible thanks to the implementation of modern field development approaches," explained the head of Naftogaz Oleksiy Chernyshov.
The well design used a 3D model of the field. As a result, specialists were able to identify a promising area of the field that had not been developed so far.
"Last year, we rearranged our geology and development team, revising the processes and strengthening it with powerful specialists with international experience. We can already see the impact. The results achieved at this field and a range of other recent geological discoveries will be important components of increasing gas production this year," said the acting director of UGV Oleg Tolmachev.
The successful drilling of this new well now paves the way for plans to drill another well in this area of the field.
It will be recalled that Tolmachev noted that UGV plans to drill more than 300 th m of new wells in 2023. As reported by ExPro, in 2022 the company drilled 215 th m and 47 new wells.
