About 30 companies each signed agreements for the purchase of LPG at the UEEX site with Ukrgazvydobovaniya and Ukrnafta, and the average monthly volume of purchases by one company per month was about 420 tons. UEEX General Director Oleksandr Kovalenko said this in an interview with NaftoRynok.
"Practically speaking, in May of this year, agreements were concluded with Ukrgazvydobovaniya and Ukrnafta for about 30 companies each. A total of 48 participants managed to buy the resource. Of these, 13 companies purchased liquefied gas from both auction initiators. The average monthly volume of purchases by one company is about 420 tons per month. We cannot disclose which companies these are due to information confidentiality requirements," said Kovalenko, answering a question about the differences between the clients of UGV and Ukrnafta.
He also said that a total of 110,000 tons of liquefied gas was sold at UEEX in 2022, which is 17% less than the previous year. "Ukrgazvydobuvannya was the seller-initiator of positions throughout 2022. If we talk about the number of buyers, then it decreased approximately equal to the volumes, in my opinion, responding to the general decline of the market after the start of the full-scale invasion, which was a certain pause for its reconstruction," Kovalenko noted.
The number of companies participating in auctions is increasing. "In general, we have good indicators of activity by direction - from about 30 companies participating in auctions in the first months after February 2022 to more than 45 at present. This is in a month, and at one auction, approximately 30 companies are currently represented, in March 2022 there were about 25", said the director of UEEX. According to him, Ukrnafta also initiates auctions at UEEX, which has revived the bidding in this direction. "Approximately the same number of companies will purchase liquefied gas from Ukrgazvydobuvannya and Ukrnafta per month, 40% are the same companies that purchase the resource from both initiators in different shares at market conditions. According to our observations, up to 10 of the new companies buy liquefied gas mainly from Ukrnafta. Therefore, a certain stable foundation, developed over the years thanks to cooperation with Ukrgazvydobovaniya, has not been displaced anywhere, let's say, due to new auctions," Kovalenko said.
