Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC in 1Q2023 received a net profit of UAH 7.7 billion, the company's press service reports with reference to the published consolidated financial statements of the Naftogaz Group for the 3 months of 2023.
During the same period last year (1Q2022), the company received a net loss of UAH 24.6 billion.
"This result became possible due to the significant improvement of the financial indicators of the Group's key enterprises in comparison with 1Q2022," said Oleksiy Chernyshov, head of Naftogaz.
In general, the Naftogaz Group in 1Q2023 received a consolidated operating profit of UAH 3.4 billion, which is also significantly higher than in the same period last year, when the Naftogaz Group had a loss of UAH 57 billion.
"Receiving an operating profit is an important indicator of business sustainability. This is a significant achievement, considering the war and the starting positions from which we started our work," stressed Oleksiy Chernyshov.
Naftogaz Group also managed to significantly improve the consolidated financial result. Thus, the net loss in 1Q2023 amounted to UAH 1.4 billion, while in the same period last year, it amounted to UAH 57.6 billion.
Naftogaz notes that the Group's companies, which ensure the fulfillment of special duties by supplying natural gas to socially sensitive categories of consumers, have significantly improved the level of cash collections for the supplied gas. This allowed them to significantly improve the operational financial result: compared to the losses received in 1Q2022 in the amount of UAH 33 billion, the losses in 1Q2023 amounted to only UAH 6.3 billion.
During January-March 2023, Naftogaz Group enterprises paid taxes in the amount of UAH 26 billion to the consolidated budget of Ukraine, which is more than 7% of all state tax revenues for the relevant period.
"At the same time, in April 2023, the Naftogaz Group successfully completed the 2022/2023 heating season under the conditions of PSO, without receiving any additional funding from the state. Moreover, even without additional support, the Naftogaz Group not only maintains but also increases the production of Ukrainian gas in the conditions of war", Naftogaz concludes.
