Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC managed to agree with international partners on financing and reserving additional volumes of natural gas for import to Ukraine. This was announced by the head of Naftogaz Oleksiy Chernyshov during his participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos.

According to Chernyshov, Naftogaz agreed with the EBRD on financing mechanisms for the purchase of additional volumes of gas needed by Ukraine. At the same time, the company agreed with Western partners - EBRD, Norway, USA, Germany, France, Canada and Great Britain - to finance the purchase. In addition, the company agreed with the leading oil and gas companies to reserve the necessary volumes.

One may remind, at the end of 2022, Chernyshov stated that Naftogaz had contracted about 450 mcm of natural gas for import in the first months of 2023. Additional gas needs were estimated at 2 bcm.

According to ExPro, with the beginning of 2023, Naftogaz began importing natural gas from Europe, which was purchased with funds from foreign partners. According to ExPro's calculations, the company plans to import about 280 mcm of natural gas in January, the rest in February.
