According to the 2024 annual results, the Martin Group of Companies has ranked among the top 10 largest diesel fuel suppliers in Ukraine. The company secured the 7th spot, as reported in the latest issue of NaftoRynok Monthly Fuels & LPG.
Martin’s Import Growth in 2024
NaftoRynok analyzed Martin’s diesel fuel import volumes for 2024 and found that the Chernivtsi-based trader has doubled its market presence in Ukraine compared to the previous year. This marks the highest import volume in the company’s history. In 2024, Martin accounted for 3.2% of Ukraine’s total diesel imports, up from 1.7% in 2023.
Last year, the company ranked 11th among importers but steadily increased its supply throughout 2024, reaching peak import levels by the fourth quarter. The highest monthly import volume was recorded in November.
Martin’s Fuel Sources
In 2024, Martin’s primary supply came from Turkish diesel (STAR Rafineri), which made up 21.1% of its total imports via shipments from Romania. Lithuanian diesel from Orlen’s Mažeikiai refinery accounted for 18.4%. Overall, the company sourced fuel from 14 countries, including the UAE, Italy, Oman, India, Saudi Arabia, and the Netherlands.
Rail transport remains Martin’s dominant delivery method, representing 69.9% of its total imports in 2024. The company operates key supply routes through the Romania-Ukraine and Poland-Ukraine borders. Notably, in December 2024, Martin ranked 5th among all diesel suppliers via rail transport. By year-end, it maintained a position in the top 5 rail importers, holding a 6% market share in tanker rail deliveries. Among the top five rail suppliers, Martin is the only company not yet represented in the retail fuel sector.
Over the past three years, Martin has diversified its supply routes, incorporating shipments by sea to Danube ports and truck deliveries from Poland, Lithuania, and Romania.
