In September 2024, the import of LPG by rail decreased fivefold compared to the previous month, averaging 0.2 thousand tons per day. This comes from the NaftoRynok Daily Fuels&LPG report dated October 4, 2024.

In comparison to August 2024, total import volumes in September were cut in half. This sharp decline in supply was largely due to stockpiling in August, in anticipation of a significant increase in the excise tax on LPG starting September 1, 2024. The excise tax rose by 10 000 UAH per ton. This increase is from €52 to €148 per 1 000 liters.
Almost half of the rail imports in September came from agreements with Venor Polska, totaling 3.5 thousand tons.
The average price of imported gas at the Ukrainian border rose slightly in September, increasing by just $4 per ton to $725 per ton (+0.5%). However, the average price after customs clearance at the border jumped by a quarter, reaching 51,300 UAH per ton, up from 41,000 UAH per ton in August.
Overall, LPG imports to Ukraine in September were halved compared to August, amid a significant surge in supply leading up to the excise tax increase.
For the January to August period, LPG imports grew by 5.7%, averaging 2.9 thousand tons per day.
Additionally, BRSM-Nafta ranked among the top three suppliers of German gasoline from Hamburg in September.
