In March 2024, the total cost of fuel sold at gas stations in Ukraine, including petrol, diesel, and LPG, amounted to UAH 30.7 billion. The total volume was 658.7 million litres, which is 10.7% more than in February 2024. This is based on data from the State Tax Service of Ukraine analysed by NaftoRynok.
The increase in sales in March affected all Ukrainian regions. The most significant increases were observed in Zakarpattia, which saw a 19.1% increase in fuel sales, along with Sumy and Khmelnytsky regions, which experienced increases of 15.5% and 15.0%, respectively.
The ranking of regions continued to be led by the Kyiv region and the city of Kyiv, as well as the Dnipro, Lviv, Odesa, and Kharkiv regions. These regions collectively account for almost half of the total sales in Ukraine.
In total, in the first quarter of 2024, gas stations sold 1.9 billion litres of fuel, up 0,3% compared to the same period in 2023. In monetary terms, the figures also increased: from UAH 80.9 billion in Q1 2023 to UAH 85.2 billion (+5.3%) in Q1 2024.
According to the State Tax Service of Ukraine, the total number of valid fuel retail licences in Ukraine as of the end of March 2024 was 6953. This is 61 less than a month earlier and 104 more than in March 2023.
