According to estimates by NaftoRynok, Ukraine's bioethanol exports increased by 10.6% in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period last year, reaching 80.4 thousand tonnes.
Where Ukraine exports bioethanol
All exports consisted of undenatured bioethanol. The European Union remained the main export destination, accounting for 93.0% of total exports. Another 6.9% was shipped to Switzerland, while small volumes were exported to Moldova.
Lithuania traditionally remained the largest market for Ukrainian bioethanol. During the first six months of the year, 55.7 thousand tonnes of product were supplied to the country, up 19.8% compared to the previous year. Shipments to Poland also increased by 5.9%, reaching 9.0 thousand tonnes.
Romania recorded the fastest growth. Exports to Romania increased 17-fold, reaching 8.6 thousand tonnes. Significant growth was also recorded in shipments to Switzerland, which rose by 122.8% to 5.6 thousand tonnes.
At the same time, exports to several countries declined significantly. Shipments to Bulgaria fell by 72.9% to 1.4 thousand tonnes, while exports to Germany nearly ceased, dropping by 99.6% to 0.03 thousand tonnes. No shipments to Hungary were recorded during the reporting period.
Bioethanol supply on Ukraine's domestic market
At the same time, following the introduction on July 1, 2026, of the mandatory blending of 7% bioethanol into A-95 and A-92 gasoline (the Polish E10 equivalent), the domestic market has gradually begun to take shape. According to market participants, last week bioethanol was offered on an ex-works basis at UAH 64,000–67,000 per tonne (VAT included). Offers for solvent at the beginning of the third ten-day period of July ranged between UAH 84,000 and 86,000 per tonne (VAT included), depending on the producer's location.
As a reminder, 93.5% of A-95 gasoline imported in July contains bioethanol.
