According to the results of 2023, Ukrgazvydobuvannya JSC, which is part of the Naftogaz Group, should ensure the production of commercial gas in the amount of about 13.5 bcm. This was announced by the head of Naftogaz Oleksiy Chernyshov.
According to Chernyshov, the main goal of Naftogaz for the next heating season is to abandon the import of gas and spend the winter on its own energy carriers. According to the head of the company, it is necessary to create the necessary reserves for this.
Most of the reserves - up to 13.5 bcm - must be provided by Ukrgazvydobuvannya. The rest is expected to come from private production companies. The export of Ukrainian-produced natural gas in wartime conditions remains prohibited.
"This may be an unpopular but justified decision: first we must be sure that we have accumulated enough gas for our own needs," explained the head of the Naftogaz Group.
He also added that in a functioning market, it should not matter to private miners whether they export or not: "they can be sure that they will sell their resource domestically at competitive prices."
