Ukrgazvydobuvannya JSC (UGV), which is part of the Naftogaz Group, launched two high-throughput wells, which in total yield more than 430 tcm of natural gas per day. This was reported by the Naftogaz press service.
"We have recently put more high performance wells into operation in line with our goal of increasing domestic gas production. The use of the latest geological approaches, late-stage field development design, increased drilling efficiency, and complex stimulation operations have helped us give old assets a new lease of life," noted Oleksiy Chernyshov, head of Naftogaz Ukraine.
The first of the new wells is an exploration well with a depth of 5,850m. The field where it was drilled was first discovered 40 years ago. However, based on the results of 3D seismic surveys, geologists proceeded with further exploration of the field and found new prospective drilling sites.
The second well was drilled in a field that is 55 years old. According to the company, Due to significant depletion, production at this field has been declining rapidly in recent years.
"The negative trend was halted thanks to an additional drilling program, as well as seven new production wells put into operation over the past year. This made it possible to shift from production decline to production growth," said the acting general director of UGV Oleg Tolmachev.
Company specialists put both wells into operation without outside involvement: specialists from Ukrburgaz carried out drilling, while UGV-Service specialists carried out the multi-stage hydraulic fracturing operation.
