Greek company Hellenic Petroleum stopped buying  Russian oil and oil products a year ago, according to the company's letter to the Swiss trader Eco Fuel Trading S.A., a copy of which is available at NaftoRynok.

«As requested, we would like to certify that as of March 2022 Hellenic Petroleum RSSOPP has ceased receiving crude oil, feedstocks, semi-finished or finished petroleum products of Russian origin», says M. Markakis, Supply, Exports & Operations Senior Director.

In addition, Hellenic Petroleum RSSOPP respects and complies with all international, US or European Union sanctions, including sanctions against Russia. «Consequently, all oil products delivered by Hellenic Petroleum RSSOPP Refineries and terminals of Aspropyrgos, Eleuses and Thessaloniki to our local and international clients are 100% of Greek origin and are not mixed with products of Russian origin», Mr. M. Markakis says.

Hellenic Petroleum is one of the largest oil companies in Southeast Europe, operates three refineries in Greece, in Thessaloniki, Elefsina and Aspropyrgos, which account for 57% of the refining capacity of the country (the remaining 43% belongs to Motor Oil Hellas). According to NaftoRynok, in 2022 Ukraine imported from Greece 230.4 thousand tons of diesel.
