In the first half of this year, Naftogaz Group companies produced over 7.3 bcm of natural gas. This is 8% more than in the first half of 2023 and 2% more than the operational plan.
Oleksiy Chernyshev, CEO of Naftogaz Group, said this in an interview with Oleh Panyuta, host of the We Are Ukraine TV channel.
This production rate was facilitated by active drilling and commissioning of new powerful wells. Over 6 months of this year, Ukrgasvydobuvannya launched 41 new wells. 14 of them produce more than 100 tcm of gas per day. A high-rate well launched at the end of June additionally provides Ukraine with 439 tcm of gas per day.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's underground storage facilities have already accumulated 9.5 bcm of gas. According to Oleksiy Chernyshev, the available volume is in line with the plan to prepare for the next winter. By the beginning of the heating season, the national company plans to pump more than 13 bcm of natural gas into the underground.
The Head of Naftogaz also recalled the heroic work of gas workers who are restoring the networks damaged by shelling in the frontline areas. Oleksiy Chernyshov emphasized that thanks to the heroic work of gas workers, gas remains the only stable source of energy in almost every community, even in the frontline regions of Ukraine.
