According to the results of 2023, Ukraine plans to increase natural gas production to 19 bcm. This was announced by the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov in an interview with NV.
According to him, Ukrgazvydobuvannya JSC intends to produce an additional 1 bcm. Naftogaz also expects that private companies will increase production volumes.
"Of course, production requires significant investments: exploration, analytics, project, seismic, etc. We invest in this industry ourselves. We also attract foreign partners — Western gas and oil company representatives to work together in certain territories. After all, increasing own production is one of the priorities of Naftogaz. And Ukraine's energy security depends on this," Chernyshov said.
According to ExPro calculations, Ukraine produced about 18.5 bcm of natural gas in 2022, 6% less than in 2021. The reduction in production volume is primarily due to the full-scale war.
